Dorchester Historical Society Gala | Oct 12

2010 DHS gala
The lucky folks who attended the Dorchester Historical Society (DHS) 2010 Save Our Barn Gala event under the tent had an incredible time, with local treasure Ryan Landry as master of ceremonies providing hilarious and sometimes truly touching commentary. The Dorchester-based award-winning actor, playwright, comedian, and director is again the special guest for the 2012 Gala on the shores of Dorchester Bay.

The DHS Gala's theme this year: Celebrate the Past, Savor the Present, Support the Future. There will be good food & drink, music & dancing, a (usually pretty raucous) fun live auction, as well as special limited edition DHS-related items available for sale at the event.

Previous DHS fundraising efforts have supported critical preservation
activities at the Society's historic properties, including the James Blake House restoration project, much-needed improvements to the landscape and fencing of the William Clapp and Lemuel Clap Houses, and restoring structural integrity to the Clapp Family barn. Next on the long list: replacing the roof at the Lemuel Clap House, shoring up the carriage house, and upgrading security systems.

All are welcome to the party on Friday October 12, starting with cocktails at 6 PM. The DHS fundraiser is happening at the Venezia Waterfront Restaurant, 20 Ericsson Street, Dorchester. Tickets cost $150 ($75 tax deductible) and are available via Paypal on the DHS website or by sending a check to the Dorchester Historical Society, 195 Boston Street, Dorchester, MA 02125.
